A skid roller, also called a machinery skate or moving skate, is a low steel frame on a set of heavy rollers. You raise the machine a little with a jack, slide skid rollers under it, lower it on, and push or pull it across the floor. A few people can move a heavy machine this way without a crane.
Machine shifters and maintenance teams use them to move CNC machines, lathes, presses, transformers, DG sets and panels inside factories, when re-arranging a shop floor, installing a new machine or bringing equipment in from the loading dock.
