Buying tips
- Pick a capacity above the heaviest load you will lift, counting the weight of slings and fixtures.
- Measure from the hook point to the floor and ask for extra chain if 3 m lift is short.
- Use a lever hoist for sideways pulls and tight spaces, and a chain pulley block for straight vertical lifts.
- Choose stainless steel where the block will be washed down or exposed to chemicals or salt air.
- Check the hook safety latches and look over the chain for wear before every lift.

Yes. Chain pulley block, chain block and hand chain hoist are all names for the same hand-operated hoist that lifts with a load chain and a hand chain.
How much lift do your manual hoists give?
Our chain pulley blocks give 3 m lift as standard, and longer chain can be fitted. The SS chain pulley blocks come with 6 m lift and the ratchet lever hoists with 3 m.
Can a ratchet lever hoist be used sideways?
Yes. A lever hoist works in any direction, so fitters use it for pulling, tensioning and aligning as well as lifting.
