Most warehouse handling is moving pallets: off the truck, across the floor, into the rack and back out again. A hand pallet truck lets one person move a loaded pallet on a smooth floor, and a manual stacker lifts pallets to rack levels without a forklift, which suits godowns where a forklift would be too large or too costly to run.

Safety on the job
- Check the pallet weight against the rated capacity of the pallet truck or stacker before lifting.
- Use pallet trucks on smooth, level floors only. Do not take a loaded truck down a ramp.
- Lower stacker forks fully before moving, and never stand or walk under raised forks.
- Keep the area under a mezzanine hoist clear and fit a gate or barrier at the upper-floor opening.

A manual stacker needs no fuel, charging or licensed driver and fits narrow aisles. It suits godowns with a moderate number of pallet moves. For constant high-volume stacking, a forklift may be worth looking at.
